NOVELTY - Honeycomb ceramic catalyst comprises honeycomb ceramic material having high pore volume as carrier, and coating material including mullite-type composite oxide. USE - The honeycomb ceramic catalyst is useful for energy, environment, medical treatment and household fields including motor vehicle exhaust gas treatment, stationary source flue gas catalytic oxidation, volatile organic pollutant purification, indoor and outdoor air purification, odor purification, catalytic decomposition of ozone and hydrogen peroxide, and water purification (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The catalyst has small coating loss, uniform coating dispersion and stable physical and chemical properties, and peeling rate of coating of less than 2.5%. The preparation method is simple, environmentally friendly and pollution-free, and suitable for large-scale production of honeycomb ceramic catalyst. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Honeycomb ceramic catalyst comprises honeycomb ceramic material having high pore volume as carrier, and coating material including mullite-type composite oxide (AM2O5-x). A = lanthanide metal elements including Sm, Bi and Y; M = transition metal elements of first transition system; and x = 0 and 1. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: preparation of honeycomb ceramic catalyst, comprising (1) mixing mullite-type composite oxide, γ-alumina, additives and water in a certain proportion and stirring at room temperature for period of time to obtain coating slurry, and (2) immersing the honeycomb ceramic in the coating slurry, removing the excess slurry in the honeycomb ceramic pores by blowing with a dust blowing gun, drying the honeycomb ceramic and calcining, performing coating step, optionally repeating the above coating step for 1-5 times to obtain mullite-type composite oxide surface-active coated honeycomb ceramic catalyst; and use of honeycomb ceramic catalyst for energy, environment, medical treatment and household fields including motor vehicle exhaust gas treatment, stationary source flue gas catalytic oxidation, volatile organic pollutant purification, indoor and outdoor air purification, odor purification, catalytic decomposition of ozone and hydrogen peroxide, and water purification.
