NOVELTY - Preparation of graphene quantum dots involves adding monolayer graphene oxide to solvent, preparing liquid dispersion of graphene oxide, adding zinc oxide having hexagonal crystal structure and stabilizing agent, dispersing, subjecting to hydrothermal reaction, obtaining turbid liquid containing graphene quantum dots, adding acid to the turbid liquid to clarify, filtering, obtaining solution containing graphene quantum dots, extracting, and removing extracting agent by evaporation. USE - Preparation of graphene quantum dots (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method enables simple preparation of graphene quantum dots having narrow size distribution. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparation of graphene quantum dots involves providing zinc oxide having hexagonal crystal structure and particle size of 5-30 nm as seed crystal nucleus, adding monolayer graphene oxide to solvent, preparing liquid dispersion of graphene oxide, adding zinc oxide, adding a stabilizing agent, dispersing, obtaining colloidal solution, subjecting the colloidal solution to hydrothermal reaction at 160-300 degrees C for 0.5-2 hours to obtain turbid liquid containing graphene quantum dots, adding acid to clarify the turbid liquid, filtering, adjusting pH of filtrate to 7-8, stirring, filtering, obtaining solution containing graphene quantum dots, extracting the resultant product, and removing extracting agent by evaporation.
