NOVELTY - Preparing aromatic alcohol, comprises carrying out hydrogenation reaction of aromatic ketone or aromatic aldehyde and hydrogen in the presence of catalyst to obtain aromatic alcohol, where the catalyst is supported catalyst including carrier and active component, and the active component includes nickel phosphide and carbon layer coated on the surface of the nickel phosphide. USE - The method is useful for preparing aromatic alcohol. ADVANTAGE - The method has high aromatic ketone or aromatic aldehyde conversion rate, high reaction selectivity of aromatic alcohol, and stable catalytic reaction system. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for the catalyst used in the above method.
