NOVELTY - Preparation of carbon-coated lithium manganate, by using soft manganese ore, involves: 1) subjecting pyrolusite to acid leaching, to form manganese dioxide coarse crystal, the mol concentration of acid used, is 0.5 - 6mol/l; 2) mixing manganese dioxide coarse crystals with sulphur dioxide and solvent, carrying out reduction reaction to form bivalent manganese solution; 3) mixing the bivalent manganese solution with potassium permanganate, performing oxidation reaction to form manganese dioxide; and 4) mixing manganese dioxide with lithium source and carbon source, then calcining. USE - Method is used for preparing carbon-coated lithium manganate used in lithium batteries. ADVANTAGE - The method involves using conventional non-toxic substances as raw materials which are environmentally safe. The preparation method is a simple and easy to operate process enabling easy industrialized production.
