NOVELTY - Preparing graphene, comprises (i) adding 115 ml concentrated sulfuric acid into 4-necked flask under mechanical stirring and ice bath condition, cooling to 4-5 degrees C, adding 5 g 400 mesh size graphite and 2.5 g sodium nitrate, stirring for 15 minutes, then slowly adding 35 g potassium permanganate, maintaining the temperature, and stirring at below 10 degrees C for 30 minutes, (ii) heating, and reacting at 35 degrees C for 60 minutes, (iii) adding 230 ml deionized water dropwise into the above mixture, heating at 95-98 degrees C, and stirring for 30 minutes, (iv) pouring the obtained product into 1 l deionized water, then adding hydrogen peroxide, and stirring until the product becomes yellow, and (v) washing the obtained product using 5% dilute hydrochloric acid and deionized water, respectively until the pH is 5. USE - The method is useful for preparing graphene. ADVANTAGE - The method has simple operation with easily controllable temperature.
