NOVELTY - A coated strip or sheet comprises steel strip or sheet, zinc (alloy) coating on steel strip or sheet, coating system for inhibiting corrosion, and top coat in which coating system contains corrosion inhibitive composition with graphene and graphene stacks consisting of 2-20 layers of graphene and coupling agent which has organofunctional siloxane coupled to graphene and graphene stacks. USE - A coated strip or sheet. ADVANTAGE - The corrosion inhibitive coating is chromate-free while exhibiting comparable corrosion inhibition performance relative to corrosion inhibitive coatings containing chromates. Amount of graphene and graphene stacks in corrosion-inhibited composition can be reduced while maintaining same level of corrosion protection, resulting in advantages over cost and processing of corrosion inhibitive composition. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of corrosion inhibitive composition which involves subjecting composition which contains water and graphene precursor to greater than or equal to 2 mechanical treatments and chemical treatment to form graphene and graphene stacks having 2-20 layers of graphene, separating graphene and graphene stacks from mechanically and chemically treated composition to form graphene-based composition, mixing graphene-based composition with 1st coupling agent which contains organofunctional siloxane capable of reacting with graphene and graphene stacks, and mixing graphene-based composition with corrosion inhibitors to form intercalated graphene compound in which corrosion inhibitors are intercalated between graphene layers of graphene stack.
