▎ 摘  要

NOVELTY - Substituted 2-methoxy-phenol containing phosphorus based flame retardants (I) are new. USE - (I) are useful for preparing a flame retardant prepolymer and/or resin (II) and (III), which is useful in an interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) for: preparing a flame retardant adhesive for coating an article or a material, where the material is wood, wood products paper, textiles, plastics or articles of manufacture; and preparing a flame retardant nanocomposite (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - (I) provides leachability, corrosivity, hygroscopicity and strength reduction associated with traditional flame retardants combined with the desire for more eco-friendly products. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Substituted 2-methoxy-phenol containing phosphorus based flame retardants of formula (I) are new. FR = phosphorus based flame retardant; and R1 = OH or =O. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) substituted 2-methoxy-phenol containing phosphorus based flame retardants of formula (II); (2) substituted 2-methoxy-phenol containing phosphorus based flame retardants of formula (III); (3) an interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) comprising a blend of (II) and (III); (4) preparing (I); (5) preparing (II) comprising combining (I) with polymerizable substituent containing leaving group (LG), of formula (M1-LG) (V) in the presence of a catalyst and a base under conditions to form (II); (6) preparing (III) comprising combining (I) with substituted polymerizable substituent compounds of formula (Q1-ring A1-Q1) (VI); (7) preparing the interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) comprising a blend of (II) and (III), comprising combining (II) with (III) and curing (II) and (III); (8) coating an article or a material with a flame retardant resin and/or prepolymer comprising applying (II) and/or (III), and optionally at least one additive, to the article or material and allowing the (II) and/or (III) to cure on the article or material; and (9) preparing a flame retardant nanocomposite comprising curing a compound or (II) or (III) in the presence of the curing agent and optionally the additives. M1 = group comprising a polymerizable substituent; M2 = group comprising at least two polymerizable substituents, where one polymerizable substituent has been reacted to form an O-linkage; M3 = group comprising at least two polymerizable substituents, where each polymerizable substituent has been reacted to form an O-linkage, and the group comprising the at least two polymerizable substituents in M2 and M3 is the same; and m = a number of repeating units; LG = Cl, Ms, Ts, Tf or 1-6C acyl; Q1 = -OCN or -NCO; and ring A1 = diphenylmethane, oxydibenzene or sulfinyldibenzene.
