NOVELTY - Graphene-based composition, preferably in the form of dispersion, comprises at least one graphene-like filler material and at least one chemical, preferably at least one chlorinated paraffin. USE - The composition is useful as a: reinforcing, thermally conductive agent for applications as plasticizer in plastics and coatings, binders in varnishes, as an additive in joint sealants, in metal processing, in fat liquors for leather and fur goods; and flame retardant in plastics, rubber, paper and textiles (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The graphene-based composition: utilizes the graphene-like filler material that exhibits good dispersion in rubber and allows stress transfer from the polymer matrix to monolayer graphene, thus resulting in rapid improvement of the mechanical properties of the rubber composites i.e. increased modulus, increased strength or increased toughness of the composites; utilizes chlorinated paraffin tht facilitates the functionalization of the graphene surface without requiring additional stage of precipitation, filtration, centrifugation or any other mechanical processes for extracting graphene-like filler materials from the chlorinated paraffin; can be prepared without the need of additional solvent, catalyst or initiator; exhibits excellent flame retardant properties due to a cleavage of non-combustible hydrogen chloride at high temperatures, which is combined with ability of the graphene-like filler materials that significantly increase heat absorption resulting in decrease of time to ignition and minimizing flame; and possesses thermal expansion coefficient of the graphene. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for preparing the graphene based composition, in form of dispersion, comprising (a) preparing graphene-like filler materials by modifying its form by mechanical or chemical treatment, and (b) preparing the dispersion by mixing with chlorinated paraffin.
