The barrier layer in the cathode sheet structure prevents growth of metallic zinc dendrites, and direct contact of active material with alkaline electrolyte, such that the dissolution of zinc cathode is inhibited, and reduces hydrogen evolution potential in the alkaline electrolyte, such that hydrogen evolution reaction is inhibited, and the cycle performance of the battery is improved. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of the high-performance nickel-zinc battery cathode sheet structure, which involves mixing zinc powder-containing active material, zinc oxide, cathode material additive and binder, obtaining active material slurry, coating the active material slurry on the front and back surfaces of the current collector layer, drying, obtaining the active material layer on the front and back sides of the current collector layer, pressing coated structure using a pair of rollers, obtaining a composite structure of active material layer and current collector layer, mixing anti-dendritic material, liquid absorbing material, conductive material and binder, coating obtained slurry on the upper and lower surfaces of the composite structure of active material layer and current collector layer, forming barrier layer, and drying obtained product.
