NOVELTY - Polylactic acid-based filter material comprises 90-95 wt.% polylactic acid, 1-10 wt.% polymethyl methacrylate and 0.1-5 wt.% nano material, where the nano material comprises at least one of nano silica, nano calcium carbonate, nano silicate, graphene, carboxy terminated hyperbranched polyester and hydroxy terminated hyperbranched polyesters. USE - The material is useful for cigarettes. ADVANTAGE - The material has low-shrinkage rate, retains biodegradability and excellent spinning adhesion, and is safe and non-toxic. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for preparing the polylactic acid-based filter material involving (a) mixing polylactic acid, polymethyl methacrylate and nano materials uniformly to obtain a raw material, (b) mixing and extruding the raw materials by a vacuum twin-screw extruder, vacuum-drying the particles and cooling the particles to room temperature and (c) discharging the particles, spinning using a single-screw extruder and carrying out drawing, crimping and heat setting to obtain the product.
