NOVELTY - Preparation of graphene oxide involves mixing treated graphite with nitric acid solution for 18-25 minutes, adding potassium permanganate, reacting at 12-18 degrees C for 65-85 minutes, filtering, washing using deionized water, adjusting pH to 6-7, drying, obtaining intercalated graphite oxide, heat-treating resultant product, obtaining expanded graphite, mixing resultant with sulfuric acid, stirring, transferring resultant to reactor, adding deionized water and hydrogen peroxide, adjusting pH of resultant, filtering, clarifying, drying and reacting resultant with inert gas. USE - Preparation of graphene oxide used for e.g. solar cell, sensor, conductive wire, graphene tunnel, transmitting antenna, greenhouse information system, humidity sensor, receiving antenna, thermostat and computer component (all claimed). DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparation of graphene oxide involves milling graphite for 1-3 hours, adding milled graphite to 15-35% hydrochloric acid, stirring for 12-18 minutes, removing surface impurities, adjusting pH of resultant material using deionized water, drying, obtaining treated graphite, mixing treated graphite with nitric acid solution for 18-25 minutes, adding potassium permanganate, reacting at 12-18 degrees C for 65-85 minutes, filtering, washing using deionized water, adjusting pH to 6-7, drying, obtaining intercalated graphite oxide, heat-treating resultant product at 1100-1200 degrees C for 85-95 seconds, obtaining expanded graphite, mixing resultant with 98% or more concentrated sulfuric acid, stirring, transferring resultant to reactor, adding deionized water and hydrogen peroxide, adjusting pH of resultant to 8-9 using aqueous ammonia, filtering, clarifying, drying and reacting resultant with inert gas. The particle size of graphite particles is 30-180 mesh. The mass ratio of treated graphite and nitric acid is 1:2-6. The mass ratio of treated graphite and potassium permanganate is 1:0.3-0.5.
