NOVELTY - An ionic liquid modified graphene oxide/imidazole polyphenylene ether composite anion exchange membrane comprises imidazole polyphenylene ether (I) and ionic liquid modified graphene oxide. USE - Ionic liquid modified graphene oxide/imidazole polyphenylene ether composite anion exchange membrane. ADVANTAGE - The membrane has good mechanical performance, strong alkali resistance and high ion conductivity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An ionic liquid modified graphene oxide/imidazole polyphenylene ether composite anion exchange membrane comprises imidazole polyphenylene ether of formula (I) and ionic liquid modified graphene oxide. x:y=(5-10):(1-5); and R=groups of formulae (i)-(v). An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of ionic liquid modified graphene oxide/imidazole polyphenylene ether composite anion exchange membrane comprising mixing graphene oxide and oxalyl chloride at 60-100 degrees C for 12-24 hours, washing with water and ethanol, respectively, centrifuging, and vacuum drying; dispersing in organic solvent, adding imidazole ionic liquid, reacting at 80 degrees C for 12 hours, and ultrasonic sonicating for 0.5-2 hours; dissolving imidazole polyphenylene ether in solvent, mixing with above product, ultrasound dispersing at 60 degrees C for 30-90 minutes, pouring on clean cast plate, and vacuum drying at 60 degrees C for 24 hours.
