▎ 摘  要

NOVELTY - Improved method for producing high purity graphene through electrochemical exfoliation of graphite foil, comprises: (a) during electrolytic process, consumable anode material, non-consumable cathode material, electrolyte solution, direct current (DC) or pulsed DC power source, and conducting wire for connecting electrodes to power source and completing electrical circuit; (b) conducting electrolysis process for 2-8 hours at constant voltage, temperature, molarity of electrolyte which continuously stirred with magnetic stirrer, and rotation speed at room temperature; (c) after electrolysis, subjecting produced multilayer graphene to sonication treatment; (d) transferring floated graphene to a substrate consists of adding diethyl ether to electrolyte and ultrasonically vibrating the mixture for 200-600 seconds, and separating mixture of diethyl ether from electrolyte using separating funnel; and (e) spraying mixture of dispersed graphene in diethyl ether on substrate and air dried. USE - The method is useful for producing high purity graphene through electrochemical exfoliation of graphite foil. ADVANTAGE - The method: utilizes electrolytic process that produces oxygen at anode and hydrogen gas at the cathode as by products which are environmentally-friendly and non-toxic; produces high quality graphene of 2-5 layers of carbon atoms at relative low power/energy; and is energy efficient process; can easily be scaled up for industrial production of high-quality graphene. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Improved method for producing high purity graphene through electrochemical exfoliation of graphite foil, comprises: (a) during electrolytic process, at least one consumable anode material which is a source of carbon and efficiently accept electrons from anions, at least one non-consumable cathode material that will not react in the electrolytic process and provide electrons to the incoming cations, an electrolyte solution which comprises of cations and anions to participate in electrolysis process and which will not oxidize the graphene exfoliated during the process, a direct current (DC) or pulsed DC power source which is capable to work at constant current or constant voltage mode for maintaining polarity of both anode and cathode simultaneously, and a conducting wire for connecting electrodes to the power source and completing the electrical circuit; (b) conducting the electrolysis process for 2-8 hours at constant voltage, constant temperature, constant molarity of an electrolyte which continuously stirred with a magnetic stirrer, and constant rotation speed at room temperature; (c) after electrolysis, subjecting produced multilayer graphene to a sonication treatment in which the glass beaker or polymeric container with graphene floating on the solvent is placed on a water bath and ultrasonically vibrated using a Sonicator; (d) transferring floated graphene to a substrate consists of adding diethyl ether in the volume ratio of 3:2 to the electrolyte and ultrasonically vibrating the mixture for 200-600 seconds, and separating the mixture of diethyl ether from the electrolyte using a separating funnel; and (e) spraying the mixture of dispersed graphene in diethyl ether on substrate and air dried, where the diethyl ether evaporated at room temperature leaving graphene platelets on the substrate.
