NOVELTY - A waterborne epoxy curing agent comprises the reaction product of: a) amine(s) having at least one moiety containing divalent hydrocarbon group, and tertiary amino group and primary amino group per molecule; and b) polyether polyol modified epoxide(s) which have one or more epoxide groups. USE - Waterborne epoxy curing agent is used in coatings. ADVANTAGE - The waterborne epoxy curing agents which does not contain volatile organic solvents, has fast curing property and improved shelf life. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A waterborne epoxy curing agent comprises the reaction product of: a) amine(s) (A)having at least one moiety in the formula -QNH-, where Q is a divalent hydrocarbon group and amine has at least one tertiary amino group and at least one primary amino group per molecule; and b) polyether polyol modified epoxide(s) which have one or more epoxide groups. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for the preparation of waterborne epoxy curing agent, which involves heating amine (A) at 30-150°C for 0.1-6 hours.
