NOVELTY - A battery electrode composition includes core-shell composite particles (102) comprising a core (104) and a shell (106), where the core comprises graphene and lithium sulfide active material, and the shell comprises a metal oxide and/or a metal oxyfluoride. USE - Battery electrode composition used for battery (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The battery electrode has improves electrochemical reversibility by eliminating or preventing polysulfide anion precipitation on the anode surface via electrolyte additives to dissolve insulating sulfur-containing precipitates. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) a battery, which includes an anode, a cathode and an electrolyte arranged between the anode and cathode, where the cathode comprises the battery electrode; and (2) method for making the battery electrode composition, which involves: (a) forming core; and (b) forming shell at least partially encasing the core to form core-shell composite particles.
