▎ 摘  要

NOVELTY - Solvent-free method involves generating a liquid crystal mesogen, melting the mesogen, cooling to obtain viscous liquid, and placing the viscous liquid on at least a portion of a surface of a substrate (A) to produce a liquid crystal layer on the substrate. The liquid crystal mesogen contains cholesteryl oleyl carbonate, derivative or their salt, cholesteryl pelargonate, derivative or their salt, cholesteryl benzoate, derivative or their salt or any combination. USE - Solvent-free method for fabricating device such as tunable device e.g. watches face (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method provides device having liquid crystal layer protected from harmful species in environment. The device is sealed to maintain the layer at constant pressure, gas composition, and temperature. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for device.
