NOVELTY - Excitation electrode comprises a single layer structure formed of a two-dimensional layered substance, where the excitation electrode is arranged as a pair to be used to be opposed to each other via the quartz crystal blank. USE - Excitation electrode used to apply electrical field for exciting the quartz crystal blank, to quartz crystal vibrator, sensor, oscillator (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The excitation electrode improves adhesiveness to the quartz crystal blank while surely preventing the frequency fluctuation from occurring, electrical characteristics and mechanical strength characteristics become more excellent and mechanical characteristics such as extension or contraction. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: 1. a quartz crystal vibrator element, which comprises a quartz crystal blank having a pair of vibrating arm portions, and an electrode film provided on an outer surface of the quartz crystal blank, where the electrode film has a pair of excitation electrodes arranged on outer surfaces of the pair of vibrating arm portions; and 2. a method of manufacturing a quartz crystal vibrator element, which involves: a. forming an electrode film having a single layer structure formed of a two-dimensional layered substance on an outer surface of a quartz crystal blank having a pair of vibrating arm portions; b. patterning the electrode film to form excitation electrodes arranged as a pair on respective outer surfaces of the pair of vibrating arm portions to be opposed to each other via the quartz crystal blank.
