NOVELTY - Electrode comprises a conductive base material, a catalyst layer containing an oxygen reduction catalyst and resin fine particles, and a nitrifying bacterial layer. USE - The electrode is used for microbial fuel cell, preferably sedimentary microbial fuel cell (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The electrode has excellent power generation characteristics. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) a microbial fuel cell comprising the electrode; and (2) a sedimentary microbial fuel cell comprising the electrode as a positive electrode.
