NOVELTY - Efficiently preparing chitin fiber material comprises (1) preparing potassium hydroxide aqueous solution with potassium hydroxide mass concentration of 30 wt.% and above, (2) adding chitin to the potassium hydroxide aqueous solution in the step (1), stirring and dispersing at a certain temperature to obtain a chitin/potassium hydroxide complex, (3) adding ice or ice-water mixture to the mixture obtained in step (2), stirring until completely dissolved, and obtaining chitin spinning stock solution, and (4) spinning the obtained chitin spinning stock solution, and then solidifying in a coagulation bath to obtain a chitin fiber material. USE - The method is useful for efficiently preparing chitin fiber material, which is useful in textile, biological medical material, functional healthcare clothes, medical suture, antibacterial material, and hemostatic material. ADVANTAGE - The method: has simple process, good stability of the chitin solution, convenient storage and transportation, moderate solution viscosity and good spinnability, the adopted solvent and coagulation bath components are safe and environmentally friendly, can be recycled and reused, are suitable for industrial production, the functionality of chitin fibers can be further improved by chemical modification or doping with other organic, inorganic, and polymer materials, and the chitin fiber has wide application prospects in many fields e.g. textiles and biomedical materials. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: preparing functional chitin fiber, comprising using the above method to prepare chitin fiber material, introducing functional organic or inorganic additives, low-dimensional nanomaterials, or introducing natural polymers or synthetic polymers and chitin for blending during the preparation process, and adding the functional organic or inorganic additives and low-dimensional nanomaterials through spinning dope or coagulation bath; and functional chitin fiber obtained by the above method.
