NOVELTY - At least one patterned structure of a carbide-forming metal or metal-containing alloy is formed (902) on a substrate. A layer of graphene is then applied (904) on top of the patterned structure and heated (906) in an environment to remove (908) graphene regions proximate to the patterned structure and patterned structure of carbide-forming metal or metal-containing alloy, to obtain patterned graphene layer on the substrate. USE - Formation of patterned graphene layer on substrate used for electronic device e.g. low-noise amplifier for communication applications. ADVANTAGE - The electronic device using the patterned graphene layer has excellent carrier mobility.
