NOVELTY - The photoelectric surface (1) has a window material (2), a photoelectric conversion layer (3) provided with a light-incident surface (3a) and an electron emission surface (3b), and a carbon layer (4) provided on the electron emission surface. The window material may be platinum, copper or gold. The carbon layer contains graphene, amorphous carbon and diamond-like carbon. The photoelectric conversion layer may be made of platinum or single-layer graphene. USE - Photoelectric surface for use as an electron source in a device. Can be used as, e.g., transmission type photoelectric surface or reflection type photoelectric surface. ADVANTAGE - The photoelectric surface is provided with a predetermined photoelectron emission characteristic.
