NOVELTY - The device (100) has an optical fiber(110) that is arranged to transmit electromagnetic radiation between a source of electromagnetic radiation and an area of interest of a sample material. An optical element is coupled to an end portion (116) of the optical fiber. The optical element comprising a graphene lens (130) that is arranged to focus the electromagnetic radiation transmitted by the optical fiber to a focal region within the area of interest of the sample material. The optical element is arranged to receive electromagnetic radiation that interacted with the area of interest of the sample material and the optical fiber is arranged to transmit the electromagnetic radiation received by the optical element. USE - Optical device e.g. endoscope used in optical coherence tomography system, scanning imaging system and optical fiber coupler (all claimed), used for emitting electromagnetic radiation in medical field. ADVANTAGE - The optical device can improve the success rate of coupling and improve the uniformity of the film, has excellent mechanical strength and flexibility. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) a scanning imaging system; and (2) a method of forming an optical device.
