NOVELTY - Removal of dissolved substances from aqueous stream involves contacting adsorbent including graphene oxide with aqueous stream containing dissolved inorganic substance. USE - Removal of dissolved substances from aqueous stream used for water treatment. ADVANTAGE - The method enables effective removal of divalent cations, dissolved heavy metals, radioactive compounds and non-metallic anions using low cost adsorbents having high specific surface area. The adsorbent has high specific surface area and reactivity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) particulate adsorbent; and (2) manufacture of particulate adsorbent.
