NOVELTY - The device has graphene transfer stack (609b) that comprises thermal release tape (607b) and graphene (604b) such that a surface of graphene is in contact with a surface of magnetic substrate (603b) and an oxidation coating (631) of substrate. The stack comprises a polymer having polyvinylidene fluoride-co-trifluoroethylene and poly(methyl methacrylate) and the oxidation coating comprises a carbon thin film having diamond like carbon. The tribological properties of polymer are used as a lubricant layer in magnetic device. USE - Magnetic device such as magnetic hard disk for protective coatings on hard disk drive magnetic media or magnetic head. ADVANTAGE - The magnetic media carbon film thickness is reduced and the use of nucleation layer is avoided which increases magnetic spacing. The use of chemicals is avoided to etch away the nucleation layer which results in corrosion to the magnetic media. The higher areal density is achieved for each magnetic medium. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for manufacturing a magnetic device.
