NOVELTY - A membrane comprises a porous substrate layer and an active layer arranged over at least a part of the substrate layer. The active layer has a lamellar structure comprising at least two layers of two-dimensional (2D) material comprising graphene or its derivative. The substrate is chosen from a porous film, and/or a hollow fiber substrate. USE - Membrane used for water filtration for inkjet printing water treatment, such as oil/water separation, pharmaceutical filtration for removal of pharmaceutical residues in the aquatic environment, biofiltration e.g. separation between micro-organisms and water, desalination or selective ion filtration, and nuclear wastewater filtration for removal of nuclear radioactive elements from nuclear waste water, blood treatment such as, physiological filtration to replace damaged kidney filter and blood filtration, and/or separation of bioplatform molecules derived from sources such as plants e.g. grass for filtration device such as gravity filtration device, vacuum filtration device, and pressurized filtration device (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The membrane is easy, economical, and has excellent mechanical strength, life span, and stability. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) production of filtration membrane, which involves optionally treating the substrate, contacting the substrate with a coating composition comprising the graphene or its derivative, and optionally drying the membrane; and (2) filtration device, which comprises filtration membrane.
