NOVELTY - Preparation of pH-responsive graphene-based solid corrosion inhibitor self-healing coating comprises mixing deionized water and methanol solution to obtain mixed solution, mixing zinc nitrate hexahydrate and 2-methylimidazole in mixed solution, dispersing graphene oxide in deionized water, adding zinc nitrate solution to graphene oxide suspension, mixing for 30 minutes, adding 2-methylimidazole solution, performing hydrothermal treatment, rinsing with deionized water, freeze-drying to obtain reduced graphene oxide-zeolitic imidazolate framework (RGO-ZIF) hybrid material, dispersing RGO-ZIF hybrid material in deionized water, methanol and 2-methylimidazole, adding cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, mixing for 30 minutes, adding ethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) to suspension, mixing for 2 hours, cleaning with methanol and deionized water, freeze drying to obtain RGO-ZIF-silicon dioxide (SiO2), mixing with epoxy resin and curing agent, coating on pretreated metal substrate surface and curing. USE - The method is for preparation of pH-responsive graphene-based solid corrosion inhibitor self-healing coating. ADVANTAGE - The RGO-ZIF-SiO2 hybrid quickly decomposes and releases 2-methylimidazole corrosion inhibitor under acidic conditions and has 63% solid corrosion inhibitor loading rate, is stable under alkaline and neutral conditions, integrates passive protection and active repair and protects metal substrate after coating is corroded or damaged. The coating has excellent corrosion resistance.
