NOVELTY - The method involves feeding natural graphite of more than 99% purity into a dual drive high energy planetary ball mill (3) in a dry method. A solid state oxidizing reaction is allowed to graphite in the dual drive high energy planetary ball mill. The oxidizing of graphite powder occurs inside the jars of the high enery gall mill and peeling of or de-lamination of graphite powder / flake occurred during the milling process inside the dual drive high energy planetary ball mill are performed. The graphite particles size varies in the range of 600 micron to 5 micron. The graphene oxide is comprised of ten stacking layers. USE - Improved method for preparation of graphene oxide from natural graphite in modified dual drive planetary ball mill. ADVANTAGE - The improved process for preparation of graphene oxide from natural graphite in a modified dual drive planetary ball mill in which the shearing action of the balls in a dual drive vertical swing planetary ball mill is made use, chemicals and acids are not used, and process is performed in single step operation. The environmental friendly process is achieved with zero waste.
