NOVELTY - Forming a lithium metal anode for a battery comprises: providing at least a portion of lithium metal; adding, via a solid-state process, at least one particulate material on at least a part of the portion of lithium metal; and pressing the portion of lithium metal and the particulate material so as to adhere or embed the particulate material on or in the portion of lithium metal, where the particulate material inhibit or eliminate the formation of a dendrite. USE - The method is useful for forming a lithium metal anode for a battery (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method: provides lithium metal anodes that have reduced dendrite formation and have more uniform surface topography; and is robust, practical and cost-effective process to manufacture lithium metal anodes by administering solid-state particles with multifunctional properties directly or indirectly to the lithium metal anode. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a lithium metal anode for a battery comprising at least a portion of lithium metal and at least one particulate material.
