NOVELTY - A composition (C) comprises at least one polyaryletherketone copolymer comprising polyetheretherketone containing structural unit (I) and poly(ether diphenyl ether ketone) containing structural unit (II), and at least one poly(etherimide) comprising at least 50 mol% polyethylenimine-containing structural units comprising (i) at least one aromatic ring, (ii) at least one imide group, its imide and/or its amic acid form, and (iii) at least one ether group. The molar ratio of the structural unit (I) and (II) is 55:45-99:1. USE - Composition used for forming composite material for forming shaped article e.g. injection molded article such as rod, slab, tubing, pipe and profile (all claimed) in aerospace, pharmaceutical, and automotive application. ADVANTAGE - The composition has improved thermal resistance and mechanical properties. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A composition (C) comprises at least one polyaryl ether ketone copolymer comprising polyetheretherketone containing structural unit of formula (I) and poly(ether diphenyl ether ketone) containing structural unit of formula (II), and at least one poly(etherimide) comprising at least 50 mol% polyethylenimine-containing structural units comprising (i) at least one aromatic ring, (ii) at least one imide group, in its imide and/or in its amic acid form, and (iii) at least one ether group. The molar ratio of the structural unit (I) and (II) is 55:45-99:1. R',R'' = 1-12C optionally comprising heteroatoms, sulfo, sulfanato, phospho, phosphonato, amino, or quaternary ammonium groups;and i,j = 1-4. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) formation of the composition (C), which involves admixing the at least one polyaryletherketone copolymer, at least one poly(etherimide), dry blending, suspension mixing, slurry mixing, solution mixing, and melt mixing, in particularly combination of dry blending and melt mixing; and (2) a composite material, which comprises a matrix of composition (C), one or more than one ply of impregnated fabrics, including non-woven fabrics such as mats, multiaxial fabrics, woven fabrics or braided fabrics, unidirectional (continuous or discontinuous) fiber reinforced tapes or prepreg, preferably where the fibers are aligned, and multi-directional fiber reinforced tapes or prepreg comprising multiple layers of fiber-reinforced tapes or prepreg.
