NOVELTY - Composite material comprises a surface-modified inorganic compound (I) and a polymer resin matrix which is mixed with the inorganic compound. The inorganic compound is a nanosheet with a hydrophobic functional group attached to the surface. USE - The composite material is useful as a structural material and a coating layer material applied to parts of electronic devices. ADVANTAGE - The composite material has hydrophobicity and improved usability. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Composite material comprises a surface-modified inorganic compound of formula (Mn+1Xn) (I) and a polymer resin matrix which is mixed with the inorganic compound. The inorganic compound is a nanosheet with a hydrophobic functional group attached to the surface. n = 1, 2 or 3; M = transition element; and X = carbon or nitrogen. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for producing the composite material, comprising preparing the inorganic compound, adding and mixing a quaternary ammonium salt compound with the prepared inorganic compound, adding and mixing an organic solvent with the inorganic compound mixed with the quaternary ammonium salt compound to surface-modify the inorganic compound, separating the organic solvent layer from the mixture and obtaining the surface-modified inorganic compound, and mixing the surface-modified inorganic compound with a polymer resin.
