NOVELTY - Isolated graphene sheets from supply of coke or coal powder containing domains of hexagonal carbon atoms and/or hexagonal carbon atomic interlayers with interlayer spacing are produced exposing supply of coke or coal powder to supercritical fluid at 1st temperature and 1st pressure for 1st time in pressure vessel and rapidly depressurizing supercritical fluid at fluid release rate sufficient for effecting exfoliation and separation of coke or coal powder to produce isolated graphene sheets. USE - Production of isolated graphene sheets from supply of coke or coal powder for graphene-containing ink composition, composite material and suspension (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - Method obviates the need to go through graphite purification procedures and the use of natural graphite as starting material for production of graphene sheets and use of undesirable chemicals. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Isolated graphene sheets from supply of coke or coal powder containing domains of hexagonal carbon atoms and/or hexagonal carbon atomic interlayers with interlayer spacing are produced exposing supply of coke or coal powder to supercritical fluid at 1st temperature and 1st pressure for 1st time in pressure vessel and rapidly depressurizing supercritical fluid at fluid release rate sufficient for effecting exfoliation and separation of coke or coal powder to produce isolated graphene sheets in which coke or coal powder is chosen from petroleum coke, coal-derived coke, meso-phase coke, synthetic coke, leonardite, anthracite, lignite coal, bituminous coal and/or natural coal mineral powder. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) graphene-containing ink composition comprising graphene sheet derived from coal or coke; (2) composition material comprising graphene sheets; (3) mass of isolated graphene sheets in powder form; and (4) suspension comprising isolated graphene sheets dispersed in liquid medium.
