NOVELTY - The material has an electrochemically active material in form of coated particles, and comprising a coating layer placed on a core. The coating layer is formed of lamellar oxide based alkali metal and a metallic element. The coating layer comprises a coating material consisting of a tunnel-like mixed oxide based on two metals, where the coated particles are microparticles or nanoparticles. The alkali metal is selected from a group consisting of lithium, sodium and potassium. Electronically conductive material is selected from a group consisting of carbon black, acetylene black, graphite, graphene, carbon fibers, carbon nanofibers, nanotube and carbon. USE - Electrode material for use in an electrochemical cell of a battery e.g. lithium battery, lithium-ion battery, sodium battery, sodium-ion battery, potassium-ion battery, magnesium battery, and magnesium-ion battery (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The electrode material has high capacity, energy density and low production costs. The material has improved electrochemical performance, decreased capacitance, decreased voltage and increased impedance, and is safe to use.
