NOVELTY - Vanadium and chromium binary transition metal sulfide (I) is new. USE - (I) is useful in preparing sulfur anode composite electrode active material and sulfur anode for lithium-sulfur battery (claimed). ADVANTAGE - (I): can improve the conductivity of the sulfur anode; reacts with lithium polysulfide to realize chemical adsorption; catalyzes the electrochemical conversion reaction of lithium polysulfide; realizes the controllable deposition of lithium persulfide/lithium sulfide; significantly improves the discharge specific capacity, capacity retention rate, and cycle stability of the lithium-sulfur battery. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Vanadium and chromium binary transition metal sulfide of formula (VxCr1-xS2) (I) is new. x = 0-1, preferably 0-0.4. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) preparation of (I); (2) use of (I) for sulfur anode composite electrode active material; sulfur anode and lithium-sulfur battery; (3) preparing sulfur anode, comprising first making homogeneous dispersion of (I) and conductive carbon black, and simultaneously or dispersing sulfur element or sulfur-containing compound in the homogeneous dispersion; performing heat treatment under a protective atmosphere when sulfur element is used to obtain a composite electrode active material; reacting the sulfur-containing compound to generate elemental sulfur when a sulfur-containing compound is used to obtain composite electrode active material; and mixing the composite electrode active material with other necessary components to make slurry.
