NOVELTY - Flexible display apparatus comprises a display panel (10) in which a through-opening is defined, the display panel comprising: a first pixel area (PA1) in which a first pixel is disposed; a second pixel area in which a second pixel is disposed; and a connection area (CA) extending from the first pixel area to the second pixel area, where an edge of the first pixel area, an edge of the connection area, and an edge of the second pixel area define at least a portion of the through-opening passing through the display panel, and where a thickness of the display panel in the connection area is less than a thickness of the display panel in the first pixel area. USE - The display apparatus is useful in a mobile electronic device i.e. mobile phone. It can also be used for a tablet personal computer (PC) and a personal digital assistant (PDA). ADVANTAGE - The apparatus has high flexibility. The apparatus prevents the display panel from being deformed due to stress applied to the display element, so that flexibility of the display apparatus can be improved. The display panel can be prevented from being damaged due to the stress applied from the display elements. The thickness of the connection area is less than the thickness of display panel in the first pixel area, so as to prevent the display device from being bent or folded, thus reducing manufacturing cost of the apparatus. The first and second pixel areas are formed on the support substrate and the shield layer, and the pattern layer on the first base layer is formed to overlap the third region, thus preventing the first region and the second region from being separated from each other, and hence improving the flexibility of display apparatus. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for manufacturing a display apparatus, which involves forming, on a top surface of a support substrate comprising a first region, a second region, and a third region extending from the first region to the second region, a shield layer in which a first opening overlapping the first region and a second opening overlapping the second region are defined; forming a first base layer on the support substrate and the shield layer; forming a pattern layer on the first base layer to overlap the third region; and separating the first base layer overlapping the first region from the first base layer overlapping the third region.
