NOVELTY - Copolymer comprises monomeric repeating unit substituted carbonyl based compounds (I). USE - The copolymer is useful in dispersant, electrode and secondary battery (all claimed) and in various fields (i.e. batteries, capacitor electrodes). ADVANTAGE - The copolymer has the effect of efficiently dispersing a carbon material. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Copolymer comprises monomeric repeating unit substituted carbonyl based compounds of formula (I). R1-R9=H, 1-4C linear or branched hydrocarbon; R'1=5-22C linear or branched aliphatic hydrocarbon; R'2=optionally substituted two or more aromatic rings; R'3=CN, NC H O and COOH; m and n=0-4000; and l=1-7000, preferably m or n = 0, the other cannot be 0.
