NOVELTY - Process for preparing gas diffusion layer based on carbon fibers, involves preparing thin polymeric fibers by electrospinning polyacrylonitrile followed by carbonization with a linear temperature variation, mixing the resulting carbon fibers with carbon materials such as graphite or graphene and PTFE, and finally homogenizing the carbon powders and compressing in the form of gas diffusion carbon layers, where the diffusion layer comprises carbon fibers, graphite and PTFE having a mesoporous structure, an electrical resistivity of 1.7-3.9x 10-3 Ohm.m and characteristics of superhydrophobic material with a contact angle of 139.7-159.7 degrees and the diffusion layer comprises carbon fibers, graphene and PTFE with mesoporous structure, an electrical resistivity of 6.7x 10-2 to 2.1x 10-3 Ohm.m and characteristics of hydrophobic material with a contact angle of 118.6-129.5 degrees . USE - The process is used for preparing gas diffusion layer based on carbon fibers for electrochemical devices such as fuel cells and electrolyzer. ADVANTAGE - The gas diffusion layer based on carbon fibers facilitates the transport of gaseous reactants in various electrochemical devices.
