NOVELTY - A porous energy storage fiber electrode (100) comprises a colloidal template, a fibrous support (110), and a porous structure (130) made of a conductive material surrounding a surface of the support using the colloidal template formed on a surface of the fibrous support. USE - Porous energy storage fiber electrode is used for manufacturing energy storage device i.e. supercapacitor (all claimed) for smart watch and implantable sensor. ADVANTAGE - The porous energy storage fiber electrode has improved limited surface area and energy density. The porous structure formed through the colloidal template facilitates control of the size and porosity of the pores, increases the effective area of charge accumulation by increasing the surface area of the electrode and electrolyte, shortens ion diffusion path, thus improving performance of the energy storage device, and achieves efficient transport and diffusion of charges and ions through interconnected pores and improved electrochemical performance at high energy and power densities. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) an energy storage device, which comprises two porous energy storage fiber electrodes, a separator, and an electrolyte formed by coating a gel polymer electrolyte on the two porous energy storage fiber electrodes; (2) manufacture of the porous energy storage fiber electrode, which involves forming the fibrous support, forming colloidal template through evaporation deposition on the surface of the fibrous support, growing a conductive material between the colloidal template, and selectively removing the colloidal template to form a porous structure with the conductive material on the surface of the fibrous support; and (3) manufacture of the energy storage device, which involves providing two porous energy storage fiber electrodes, preparing the gel polymer electrolyte, and coating the gel polymer electrolyte serving as a separator and an electrolyte on the two fiber electrodes.
