NOVELTY - Preparing copper:zinc oxide/nitrogen:reduction oxidation graphene (rGO) composite photocatalyst comprises e.g. (i) dissolving zinc acetate dehydrate, hexamethylenetetramine and copper(II) acetate in deionized water, heating, centrifuging and drying to obtain nanorod, (ii) dispersing in deionized water, then adding oxidized graphene, stirring, transferring into a hot water kettle and incubating to obtain precipitate, centrifuging and drying powder, and (iii) placing powder in quartz boat, passing ammonia and argon mixed gas, heating, and cooling furnace to obtain final product. USE - The photocatalyst is useful for sewage treatment. ADVANTAGE - The method produces product having high photocatalytic activity under ultraviolet light and has stability. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing copper:zinc oxide/nitrogen:reduction oxidation graphene (rGO) composite photocatalyst comprises (i) dissolving 30 mM zinc acetate dehydrate, 30 mM hexamethylenetetramine and 0.3-0.9 mM copper(II) acetate in deionized water to obtain mixed solution, placing the mixed solution in a reaction vessel and heating at 90 degrees C for 4 hours, washing the precipitate, centrifuging and drying to obtain copper-doped zinc oxide nanorod, (ii) dispersing copper-doped zinc oxide nanorod in deionized water, then adding 5 wt.% oxidized graphene (GO), stirring for 1 hour, transferring into a hot water kettle and incubating at 120 degrees C for 12 hours to obtain precipitate, washing and centrifuging and drying to obtain copper:zinc oxide/nitrogen:rGO powder, and (iii) placing powder in a quartz boat, first passing ammonia and argon mixed gas for 5 minutes, where ammonia content is 10 vol.%, and heating at 200 degrees C at rate of 20 degrees C/minutes, then raising temperature to 300-500 degrees C for 5 minutes, then cooling furnace to room temperature to obtain final product.
