NOVELTY - The optical modulator (100) has an optical transmission line (120) which is extended in a first direction on a lower clad layer. An upper clad layer (110) is provided on the optical transmission line and the lower clad layer, and the optical transmission line comprises graphene. A modulation region of the optical transmission line is arranged between the input region and the output region, and extended wider than the input and output regions in a second direction crossing the first direction. USE - Optical modulator for use in optical apparatus and optical module (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The change in the non-uniform shape of the guide mode result in change of optical coupling efficiency in coupling to optical fiber, thus optical modulation effect is created. The productivity is improved, by efficiently utilizing the optical modulator and the optical module.
