NOVELTY - Preparing azido-functionalized graphene oxide comprises (i) reacting graphene oxide with a bisamine compound in an organic solvent, and subsequently treating to obtain aminated graphene, and (ii) reacting aminated graphene and azidocarboxylic acid compound under the action of a catalyst in an organic solvent, and subsequent processing. USE - The azido-functionalized graphene oxide is useful for modification of biological materials (claimed). DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for the azido-functionalized graphene oxide obtained by the above mentioned method.
