NOVELTY - Nanoparticle comprises a reduced graphene sheet, and chitosan, a MRI contrast agent, a chemotherapeutic agent, and a DNA plasmid which are attached to or loaded onto the reduced graphene sheet. USE - The nanoparticle is useful for generating theranostic nanoparticles (claimed), simultaneously delivering a diagnostic moiety, drug moiety, and a gene therapy moiety, or treating, or preventing cancer in a subject. The subject is human. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) theranostic formulation comprising above-mentioned nanoparticle and a carrier; and (2) method for generating theranostic nanoparticles involves reducing a graphene oxide sheet to form reduced graphene oxide sheet, and loading or attaching MRI contrast agent, chitosan, a chemotherapeutic agent, and DNA plasmid moiety onto the reduced graphene oxide sheet.
