NOVELTY - Formation of magnesium-based powder material involves activating a magnesium-based powder by milling in the presence of an organic solvent. USE - Formation of magnesium-based powder material used for activated powder for forming electrode e.g. negative electrode for electrochemical cell (all claimed) e.g. lithium-ion battery for laptop, cell phone, and other portable device. ADVANTAGE - The method enables formation of magnesium-based powder material having electrochemical properties, and Coulombic efficiency, and provides battery having excellent charging/discharging cycle characteristics. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a composite electrode, which comprises an activated material comprising magnesium-based powder material, a carbon additive, a binder, and optionally an additive.
