NOVELTY - An antimicrobial coating composition comprises 30-60 wt.% polyester resin, 3-15 wt.% curing agent, 0.1-5 wt.% antimicrobial agent (CC), 3-15 wt.% pigment (BB), and remainder of solvent. USE - Antimicrobial coating composition is used for forming layer for forming antimicrobial coated steel sheet (claimed) used for domestic appliances and building materials. ADVANTAGE - The steel sheet coated using the antimicrobial coating composition has excellent design property (appearance and gloss), workability, chemical resistance, pencil hardness, corrosion resistance, antiviral property, antibacterial property and antifungal property. In the coated steel sheet, microbes adsorbed, along with moisture, onto the coating surface are effectively killed by the hydroxy radical species and hydroxy anions generated on the coating surface. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for an antimicrobial coated steel sheet, which comprises a steel sheet (EE), and an antimicrobial coating layer (AA) formed using the antimicrobial coating composition, on at least one surface of the steel sheet. At least a portion of the antimicrobial coating layer comprises antimicrobial agent having a weight ratio of element (Z) chosen from phosphorus, arsenic, vanadium and silicon with respect to total of element (M) chosen from calcium, barium, magnesium, zinc, nickel, iron and aluminum and calcium of 0.1-0.5.
