NOVELTY - Producing porous graphene comprises (i) stirring graphene oxide and hydrogen iodide etchant at 80-120 degrees C for 3-5 hours, where weight ratio between graphene oxide and hydrogen iodide is 1:5-1:50, (ii) separating graphene oxide treated in step (i), and (iii) reducing graphene oxide obtained in step (ii) with reducing agent to obtain porous graphene. USE - The porous graphene is useful in supercapacitors or other rechargeable ion batteries. ADVANTAGE - The graphene has nano-pore structure and uniform pores; and also increased energy density.
