NOVELTY - Hollow composite microsphere comprises a three-layer spherical shell structure, where the inner layer is a silicate spherical shell, the middle layer is a metal spherical shell and the outer layer is a carbon spherical shell, a silicate spherical layer is coated on the outer surface of the silicate spherical shell and the carbon spherical shell is coated on the outer surface of the metal shell. USE - Hollow composite microspheres for use as fillers in a composite material (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The hollow composite microsphere has three-layer spherical shell structure, low density through the hollow cavity inside, better and controllable electromagnetic properties, enhanced compressive strength and function and improved stability of metal spherical shell, regulates its density and strength through the ratio between three-layer spherical shells and prevents oxidation and corrosion of metals. The hollow composite microsphere is prepared in batch with high efficiency at low cost. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: 1. a method for preparing the hollow composite microsphere, which involves: a. surface pre-treating hollow microspheres with silicate spherical shells; b. coating the metal on the surface of the hollow microspheres to obtain hollow composite microspheres with silicate-metal double-layered spherical shells; and c. coating the surface of the hollow composite microsphere with carbon to obtain the hollow composite microsphere with silicate-metal-carbon three-layer spherical shell; and 2. a composite material, which comprises the hollow composite microspheres and a polymer matrix selected from epoxy resin, phenolic resin, unsaturated polyester resin, polyurethane, polyolefin, polycarbonate and silicone resin.
