NOVELTY - The touch panel (200) has a substrate (10) that is formed with an effective area and a dummy area surrounding the effective area. An outer dummy layer (20) is provided in the dummy area. A planar layer (62) formed on the substrate surrounds the outer dummy layer and is made from polymer material. A transparent electrode is arranged on the substrate to detect a position, and is made from a carbon nano-tube, a silver nano-wire or a graphene. The planar layer sequentially covers a top surface and a side surface of the outer dummy layer. USE - Touch panel such as resistive touch panel and capacitive touch panel for electronic appliance. ADVANTAGE - The crack of the transparent electrode can be effectively inhibited by forming the planar layer on the entire surface of the substrate and then, forming the transparent electrode. The need for patterning the planar layer can be omitted, and hence the process can be simplified. Since the transparent electrode is formed of a carbon nano-tube, a silver nano-tube, graphene, or a nano-mesh, the transparent electrode can be inhibited from cracking and being open circuited through the planar layer. Thus, the electrical stability and reliability can be improved. The visibility of the display device employing the touch panel can be improved.
