NOVELTY - Preparation of heavy metal ion adsorbent involves stirring and mixing montmorillonite powder and graphene oxide suspension, adding acetic acid and chitosan powder to obtained mixed suspension, stirring, adding reducing agent to the obtained uniform viscous graphene oxide-montmorillonite-chitosan mixture, stirring, such that the reducing agent is uniformly dispersed, heating at 30-70 degrees C to carry out reduction reaction, and obtaining graphene-montmorillonite-chitosan hydrogel. The amount of montmorillonite powder is 0.01-0.7 g with respect to 10 ml graphene oxide suspension. USE - Preparation of heavy metal ion adsorbent (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method enables preparation of heavy metal ion adsorbent has excellent adsorption function, sponge-like structure and favorable compression recovery performance. The heavy metal ion adsorbent is not destroyed by stirring/vibration during adsorption process. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparation of heavy metal ion adsorbent involves stirring and mixing montmorillonite powder and graphene oxide suspension, adding acetic acid and chitosan powder to obtained graphene oxide-montmorillonite mixed suspension, stirring, adding reducing agent to the obtained uniform viscous graphene oxide-montmorillonite-chitosan mixture, stirring, such that the reducing agent is uniformly dispersed, heating at 30-70 degrees C to carry out reduction reaction, and obtaining graphene-montmorillonite-chitosan hydrogel. The amount of montmorillonite powder is 0.01-0.7 g with respect to 10 ml graphene oxide suspension. The addition amount of acetic acid is 1-3 vol.% with respect to the graphene oxide suspension. The addition amount of chitosan is 0.1-0.5 g with respect to 10 ml graphene oxide suspension.
