NOVELTY - Composition comprises: (a) 10-70 wt.% at least one cyanate ester comprising (i) a difunctional cyanate ester compound (I) and their oligomers, prepolymer, and/or polymers, and (ii) is a polyfunctional cyanate ester moiety e.g. (II) and their and oligomers, prepolymer, and/or polymers; and (b) 30-90 wt.% at least one substituted bisimide compound comprising biscitraconimide compound (III), and bisitaconimide compound (IV) and citraconimido-itaconimide compound (V). USE - The composition is useful for producing thermoset composite material (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The composition: provides thermoset composite material that exhibits a mass loss after 1000 hours at 250° C of less than 2.5 wt.%, preferably less than 1.75 wt.%; utilizes reinforcement fibers to improve mechanical performance of the final resultant composite materials; and is thermoset composite composition have benefits including inter /alia, improvements in processability compared to the individual components, toughness, thermal oxidative stability, increased safety profile, and/or improved physico-chemical properties of the resultant thermoset composite materials. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Composition comprises: (a) 10-70 wt.% at least one cyanate ester comprising (i) a difunctional cyanate ester compound of formula (I) and their oligomers, prepolymer, and/or polymers, and (ii) is a polyfunctional cyanate ester moiety e.g. of formula (II) and their and oligomers, prepolymer, and/or polymers; and (b) 30-90 wt.% at least one substituted bisimide compound comprising biscitraconimide compound of formula (III), and bisitaconimide compound of formula (IV) and citraconimido-itaconimide compound of formula (V). INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: preparing the composition comprising (ia) providing the mixture components and (iia) intimately mixing the components together; preparing thermoset composite material comprising (i1) providing a mixture components, (ii2) intimately mixing the components together, (iii3) providing fiber, filler, pigment and/or additives, (iv4) contacting the mixture obtained in step (ii2) with the fiber, filler, pigment and/or additive, (v5) optionally casting the mixture into the desired form and (vi6) initiating polymerization of the mixture; and thermoset composite material obtained by the method.
