NOVELTY - Identifying cell free nucleic acid in a bio-fluid, involves contacting a multiple of nanoparticles with a bio-fluid of a subject to allow a biomolecule corona to form on the surface of the nanoparticles, isolating the nanoparticles and surface-bound biomolecule corona, and analyzing the biomolecule corona for cell free nucleic acid. USE - Method for identifying cell free nucleic acid in a bio-fluid for diagnosing or monitoring or detecting a disease state in a subject, such as cancer disease selected from ovarian, lung, prostate, melanoma and blood cancer, such as leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method provides interaction of nanoparticles with nucleic acid biomolecules as a way to facilitate the detection of previously unknown disease-specific biomolecules. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for method for diagnosing or monitoring or detecting a disease state in a subject, which involves contacting a bio-fluid sample from the subject with a multiple of nanoparticles under conditions to allow a biomolecule corona to form on the surface of the nanoparticles, isolating the nanoparticles and surface-bound biomolecule corona, and analyzing the biomolecule corona for a disease-specific cell free nucleic acid biomarker, which is determinative of the presence of a disease in the subject.
