NOVELTY - The thermal management system comprises a heat exchange element provided in thermal communication with cell of battery in battery module (100). The heat exchange element comprises a flexible substrate on which a graphene layer is formed. The heat exchange element and cell comprises a planar design so that adjacent facing relationship is formed between the heat exchange element and cell. A heat path is coupled with heat exchange element and heat sink to transfer heat between the heat exchange element and heat sink. USE - Thermal management system for battery in battery module of drive system for motor vehicle, hybrid electric vehicle, and electric vehicle such as car, truck, bus, motorcycle and other similar types of transport device. ADVANTAGE - The battery thermal management system uses heat transfer material or materials in heat transfer element to maintain optimum operating temperatures, and a temperature uniformity of battery under normal operating conditions, and the thermal event heat transfer to adjacent cells during mishandling conditions are reduced. The spreading of heat and the related potential to damage additional components is prevented efficiently.
